Glass Drawer Pulls
Many people have asked me which types of knobs and pulls I prefer and so I asked that same question to my wife and she chose glass drawer pulls. To be quite honest with you, I have seen so many, so I would find it really hard to choose amongst all the drawer pulls hardware out there. My wife on the other hand, has only seen those that I bring home, and she would have a more neutral view of the matter. So, why did she choose glass drawer pulls?
The first and simplest answer to that question would be that glass cabinet knobs are very modern and she likes modern furniture and accessories in general. There are many antique drawer pulls that look way cooler than modern ones in my opinion, but she has the right to her opinion. I recently come back from a trip to Egypt, where I found a set of round red glass drawer pulls that she has fallen in love with. The funny thing is that those drawer knobs were anything but modern. Well, they did look modern, but what I am trying to say is that they were made hundreds of years ago. Did you think that those ancient Pharaohs didn’t use to have glass cabinet knobs? They sure did.
All humor aside though, all cabinet knobs and pulls should try to combine both practicality and elegance. If you were to get a set of dresser drawer pulls that looked amazing, but were too small to grab and pull once you get out of bed, then there are no good at all. All I am saying is that I believe that our knobs and pulls should be of decent size so that we can actually use them.
Then again there are glass drawer pulls in all sizes, so that’s not specific to them. My wife, Miriam, suggested that they are so great because they allow designers to work within them, since glass cabinet knobs are see through in most cases. That allows for an artist to work within the pull handles themselves and on the outside too, thus giving them more room for creativity. That happens to be true and unique to glass drawer pulls, since there is no other see through material, maybe with the exception of plastic.
I guess it all depends on what you are trying to achieve. The truth of the matter is that you can find some amazing discount drawer pulls and knobs that will work nicely and that’s what you need at the end of the day. The only reason that things get a little bit more complex, is that we all want the best we can get, and the best does not limit itself to usability.
